New Jobs

>> Privatized military housing developer Actus Lend Lease has added three new managers: Steve Boothe as maintenance director; Dev Braganza as development manager; and David Gray as civil design manager. Boothe will oversee the Hickam Air Force Base privatization maintenance operation. Braganza will be responsible for all utilities and environmental development issues. Gray will oversee civil design for Hickam Air Force Base's privatization efforts. Donald Koslowsky also has been hired as senior estimator. He will conduct cost planning and estimation for the Hickam and Army RCI housing projects.

>> Turtle Bay Resort has hired Thomas Parke as director of sales and marketing. He will be responsible for developing marketing and service strategies, repositioning the hotel and its outlets after $60 million in renovations, and coordinating the resort's sales and marketing department. He was previously chief operating officer and sales director at the Cayo Largo Resort Co. in Puerto Rico.

Promotions

>> Kuakini Health Systems has appointed Aaron Mitschke to nurse manager for inpatient nursing services. He previously served as a clinical nurse specialist in the company's education services department.

>> Sales Manager Patti Ruesch has been promoted to publisher and Maui account executive Andrea Scarla has joined sales and marketing at Guest Informant Group. Richard Catungal has also joined the company's Oahu office as marketing coordinator.

>> The Hawaii Venture Capital Association has elected entrepreneur and consultant Bill Spencer president of its board of directors. He has led the association since 1999. Other officers are: Vice President John A. Chock, Hawaii Strategic Development Corp. president; Treasurer Frank Tokioka, National mortgage & Finance Co. vice president; and Secretary Martin Hsia, a attorney. Board members are: Derek Chang, Bank of Hawaii vice president and commercial banking officer and Pacific Century Small Business Investment Co. vice president; Troy Goldhammer, Booz Allen Hamilton associate; Jason K. Lau; Robert J. Robinson, author of "Angel Investing: Matching Startup Funds with Startup Companies, The Guide for Entrepreneurs, Individual Investors and Venture Capitalists"; Susan Scott, vice chairman of Get2Hawaii; Peter Van Zile; Gwen Watanabe, manager of angel fund Lava Ventures; and Bennett Wo, C.S. >> Jacqueline A. Marati has joined Pacific Islanders in Communications' board of directors. She is vice president and special assistant to the Bank of Guam president. PIC is a Honolulu-based national nonprofit media arts corporation that supports the development of national broadcast programming by and about Pacific Islanders.

Recognition

>> Florene Pell has received the Hawaii Pacific Volunteer of the Year Award from the American Cancer Society. She serves as a board member. She has been on the society's prevention education committee since 1994 and a Reach to Recovery volunteer since 1996.
