Travel knowledge
is worthy of scholarships

High school students in grades 9 through 12 can register for $156,000 in college scholarships by participating in the second annual AAA High School Travel Challenge.

The deadline to register at www.aaa.com/TravelChallenge is Jan. 21.

The contest begins with a 40-question online quiz available Jan. 12-21. The top five scorers in each state will take a proctored, written exam in early March. The top scorer in each state wins a $1,000 scholarship and an expense-paid trip for two to compete for one of three first-place $25,000 scholarships in the national finals, held at Universal Orlando April 24-27.

The AAA challenge, open to public, private and home-schooled students nationwide, tests the students' travel literacy by focusing on travel and tourism destinations.

It encourages students to study travel geography and consider careers in travel and tourism.

As an added incentive, students who register prior to Wednesday and complete the quiz will be entered into a random drawing for a $1,000 U.S. savings bond.
