SANTA COMES TO TOWN,

In a 20-year tradition, Santa made his annual visit to the Halekulani Hotel via outrigger canoe onto Waikiki Beach yesterday. Decked in orchid leis, he and hula dancer Lori Timmons, above, distributed candy to children on the beach.

Santa even received a kiss from beachgoer Kristen Daniels as Amanda Griffith, another hula dancer and helper, smiled at the crowd.

La Posada, the traditional Mexican commemoration of Mary and Joseph's search for a place to stay in the story of Jesus' birth, was celebrated last night at the Church of the Epiphany in Kaimuki. Katie Potz and Marcus Pottenger swung at a pinata during the festivities.
