Seasiders stun another D-I program

Jake Chrisman scored 32 points to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii over Northern Illinois 83-76 at the Surf 'N Slam Classic in Laie last night, the Seasiders' second straight win over an NCAA Division I opponent.

The Seasiders (8-2) won their first-round match over Baylor on Friday and will take on San Jose State tomorrow in the tournament.

P.J. Smith led the Huskies (4-5) with 20 points.

Chrisman got his 32 points when Northern Illinois bottled up Shawn Opunui, who put 32 points up on Baylor on Friday. Chrisman hit five 3-pointers and pulled down seven rebounds. Michael Stowell complemented Chrisman with 21 points and Opunui was held to 16. Austin Smylie added nine points and eight rebounds. The Seasiders have split their four games against Division I teams this year.

Silverswords fall: Alan Batiste led Fort Lewis with 18 points to defeat Chaminade 84-79 in State Farm Roadrunner Classic consolation play last night in Bakersfield, Calif.

Kashif Reyes led the Silverswords with 25 points.

Ft. Lewis improved to 6-3, while Chaminade fell to 1-6.

Warrior volleyball tickets on sale tomorrow

Season tickets for the upcoming men's volleyball season will go on sale to the public beginning tomorrow.

Ticket prices for the upper level will be $115 for adults, $100 for senior citizens and $50 for students.

Tickets may be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office, by phone at 944-BOWS or via the Internet at www.etickethawaii.com. The box office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding state holidays.

The Warriors' first official match of the year will be on Jan. 8 against Penn State as part of the 10th Annual Outrigger Invitational.

Farrington football takes over QB Club

Former Farrington standouts Cliff LaBoy, Onosai Tanuvasa and Wayne Saito will be the guest speakers at tomorrow's weekly meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

The buffet lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda restaurant with the program to follow at noon.
