'Ahele manu

Aia he mau känaka e noho ana ma kekahi wahi o Hawai'i nei. Iä läua e noho ana, ua no'ono'o a'ela läua e pi'i i ke kuahiwi no ke 'ahele manu 'ana, a ua ho'oholo ihola nö ho'i läua no ka pi'i 'ana a ho'omäkaukau ihola e pi'i. I ia manawa 'a'ole 'upena akä he këpau. 'O nä këpau, ua loa'a mai nö ia mai nä kumu 'ulu mai a me kekahi mau lä'au 'oko'a a'e.

Ma kekahi lä ua pi'i akula läua no ke kuahiwi no ke 'ahele manu 'ana, a iä läua i pi'i ai a i ka hiki 'ana aku i kahi nui o ka manu, ua huli akula kekahi o läua a 'ölelo akula, "ma 'ane'i nö ho'i 'oe hele a ma 'ane'i nö ho'i au hele ma ko'u 'ao'ao."

"Ua pono," wahi a kona köko'olua.

A pane maila nö ho'i këlä kanaka mua, "'O nä manu a pau e pa'a ana iä 'oe, he 'elua puka ma kona nuku, 'o ka'u ia, a 'o ka manu 'a'ole he puka, 'o käu ia.

Ua 'ike na'e ho'i ka mea mua 'a'ole he manu 'a'ole he puka ma kona nuku. Ua ha'alele ihola 'o ia a hele akula a nalowale i loko o ka ululä'au a hä'ule ihola hiamoe. 'O ka lua ho'i, ua ho'omaka akula nö ho'i ka lua o ke kanaka e hele e 'ahele manu. I ka pa'a 'ana o ka manu mua, i ka nänä iho he 'elua puka o kona nuku, pëlä 'o ia i noke ai a hiki i ke ahiahi 'ana 'a'ole he ho'okahi manu i pa'a me ka puka 'ole o ka nuku.

Ua hö'ea maila nö ho'i kahi kanaka 'eu a ua 'ohi ihola i nä manu a pau a huli ho'i akula me ka hau'oli, a 'o ka lua ho'i, ua nele.

No laila, ua lanakila ka mea na'auao ma mua o ka mea na'aupö.
