Kai’s marks among
many Wahine records
broken


The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine soccer players set 13 records during the 2003 season, tied two more and extended two other career marks.

Sophomore striker Natasha Kai accounted for 11 individual records. Sophomore goalkeeper Mahie Atay set the record for solo shutouts in a season with five and now has the lowest career goals-against average (1.27).

Kai's records include points in a match (11), season (62) and career (99), and goals in a match (five), season (29), career (45) and in Western Athletic Conference play (14).

The WAC Player of the Year also established the mark for game-winning goals in a season (seven) and career (12) and consecutive matches with a point (nine) and a goal (nine).

Kai also tied the WAC record for goals in a match (four).

Senior striker Arlene Devitt extended her own records for career assists (24) and career shots (240).

Junior striker Robyn deHay tied the record for assists in a match (three). Atay equaled the winning percentage for a goalkeeper in a season with a .667 mark. She was 11-5-2 this season.

The Wahine set nine team records. They are points in a match (23), goals in a match (eight), goals in a season (51), wins in a season (13), road wins (seven), WAC wins (seven), consecutive matches without a loss in a season (seven), shutouts in a season (11) and conference shutouts (six).

The Wahine finished 13-5-2 and the winning percentage of .700 is the best in the 10-year history of the program.

The seven assists against Morehead State tied the single-match record.

The opponent goals-against average (2.48) is a new high and reflects the Wahine average of 2.5 goals per match.
