The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian flies higher


Hawaiian Airlines' parent, sued by its airline subsidiary late yesterday for repayment of $28 million, soared 48.7 percent in this holiday-shortened week to lead 10 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc.'s stock is now up 34.8 percent for the year despite the airline's March 21 reorganization bankruptcy court filing. The shares closed at $2.75 yesterday, matching its highest closing level since Sept. 16, 2002.

Cyanotech Corp., which last week remained at the $1 threshold to avoid being delisted from the Nasdaq SmallCap Market, gained 18.3 percent to $1.23.
