Nominations are sought
for UH’s alumni award


The University of Hawaii Alumni Association is seeking nominees for the annual University of Hawaii Distinguished Alumni Award.

Established in 1987, the UH Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes outstanding alumni who have used their university education to excel professionally, provide inspirational leadership to others and provide service for the benefit of the community.

Previous recipients include Sens. Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka, U.S. Reps. Patsy Mink and Neil Abercrombie, KHON reporter Tina Shelton, entertainer Momi Cazimero, former U.S. Rep. Pat Saiki, First Hawaiian Bank Chief Executive Walter Dods Jr. and chef Alan Wong.

UH Distinguished Alumni Award nominees must have completed 50 percent of their educational program within the UH system and received a degree from a UH campus.

Selections will be based on material submitted by a nominator, with consideration given to service to UH, service to the community and professional accomplishments.

Nominations are reviewed by a committee comprised of members of the UHAA Board of Directors. A formal nomination packet and all supporting material must be received by 4 p.m. Jan. 2 and can be mailed to UH Distinguished Alumni Awards, Alumni Relations Office, University of Hawaii Foundation, 2440 Campus Road, Box 307, Honolulu 96822-2270.

Nominations may also be hand-delivered to the Alumni Relations Office in Bachman Hall 101 on the UH-Manoa campus.
