Brush fire scorches 2 acres in Waialua

A brush fire in Waialua burned about two acres near Kealohanui Street yesterday.

About 20 firefighters responded at 6:44 p.m. The fire was contained by 7:29 p.m. The fire threatened no homes or structures.

Boy, 10, breaks his leg on bike trail at Kualoa

A 10-year-old boy was flown by helicopter to the hospital yesterday after breaking his leg on a bicycle trail at Kualoa Ranch.

The boy, who was about a 30-minute ride from the trail head yesterday afternoon when the incident occurred, also complained of stomach pain. Firefighters used the ranch's all-terrain vehicles to get to the boy.

3 bikers are safe after night in Kahuku woods

Three men in their 20s who were lost in the woods Saturday night after riding their motorcycles off the trail at the Kahuku Motocross walked out unharmed yesterday morning.

The men had a cell phone and notified a relative at about 7:10 p.m. Saturday that they were lost. Firefighters were using a helicopter to search for the men but called off the search just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

Collision with car injures moped driver

A moped driver was hit by a car yesterday afternoon near the Hauula 7-Eleven and was flown to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

The accident occurred at about 4:10 p.m., police said. The driver of the car was uninjured.

2 people critically hurt in vehicle collision

A man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s were flown to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition by air ambulance after a motor vehicle collision about 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Farrington Highway and Laaloa Street near Honokai Hale, an EMS official reported.

Police seek teenager in alleged sex assault

A 19-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old boy while visiting the victim's Leeward home early Saturday morning. Police said the man fled the scene before officers arrived about 8 a.m.
