Individual UH tickets go on sale

Individual tickets for the upcoming University of Hawaii men's basketball season go on sale Monday. Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic packages and EA Sports Maui Invitational tickets go on sale as well.

Tickets will be available at the Stan Sheriff Center box office, Rainbowtique at Ward Centre, Aloha Stadium, UH Campus Center and Windward Community College. Tickets are also available online at www.etickethawaii.com and via phone at 944-BOWS.

Individual tickets will be available in two tiers. Tier I prices range from $5 to $16 and Tier II range from $5 to $11. Convenience fees may apply.

Maui Invitational prices are $35 per session and $105 a package. Rainbow Classic package prices are $52 for upper level and $68 for lower level.

UH swimming team falls to fourth-ranked Bears

The No. 13 University of Hawaii men's swimming and diving team fell to No. 4 California 184-111 in a dual meet last night at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.

Hawaii's dual meet record is 7-3.

Andrew Affleck broke the 'Bows record in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:06.90. The previous record was set by David Daniels (9:09.35) in 1981. Affleck also won the 500 free with a time of 4:28.71.

Hawaii four-time All-American Cheyne Bloch won the 100 breast (54.94) and 200 breast (2:00.49), while the UH 'A' team of Bloch, Peter Thew, Hugo Duran and Kurt Boehm won the 400 free relay.

UH diver Gowdy wins gold

UH All-American diver Mike Gowdy took home the gold in the 1-meter dive at the USC Trojan Diving Invitational yesterday in Los Angeles.

Gowdy, who was in fourth place after the prelimiaries, nailed six dives in the finals to win with 302.40 points. Teammate Jonathan Coyle finished seventh with 252.95.

On the women's side, Alyson Giometti and Miranda Maas placed 12th (339.10) and 18th (294.15) in the preliminaries of the 3-meter dive. Neither advanced to the championship round.

The three-day event wraps up today with the men's and women's 10-meter platform.
