The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Cyanotech doubles


Cyanotech Corp.'s stock price more than doubled on heavy volume this week to lead the way in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin index.

The Kona company, which makes nutritional and feed products from microalgae, jumped 104.7 percent to $1.17. It also is the index's top performer for the year with a 192.8 percent gain.

Cyanotech, which posted fiscal second-quarter earnings last week that showed it had narrowed its loss to $10,000, is now above the $1 minimum it needs to avoid delisting from the Nasdaq SmallCap Market.
