PROMOTIONS
>> PacificBasin Communications has named Scott Schumaker, formerly associate publisher, as Honolulu magazine publisher. He joined the magazine in 1996 as an account executive. Prior to that, he was an account executive with Trade Publishing, and also a copy editor and advertising director with Pacific Stars and Stripes in Tokyo.
>> Communications Pacific has promoted community building group member Cindy McMillan to director. She came to the company last year after five years as a Honolulu City Council legislative aide.
ON THE BOARD
>> Hawaii Foodbank has appointed Frank Teskey to its board of directors. He is president and publisher of Honolulu Star-Bulletin, MidWeek and RFD Publications. Before coming to Hawaii, he was vice president of Cariboo Press, a Black Press subsidiary. The Hawaii Foodbank distributed nearly 9 million pounds of food to those requiring emergency food assistance last year.
>> Assistance League of Hawaii recently inducted Raynette Scruton as its new president. Other new officers are Vice President Barbara Bachmann, Recording Secretary Connie Culbertson, Corresponding Secretary Eileen Urquhart and Treasurer Penny Hackenson. The league is an all-volunteer nonprofit philanthropic organization, chartered in 1971 and with more than 100 members.
