Damien High School Principal Michael Weaver promised last month that he would dye his hair in the school colors of purple and gold if the student body raised more than $1,000 for Aloha United Way by Sept. 30. The students raised $1,284. True to his promise, Weaver had his hair dyed yesterday by several students, including senior Jarrett Takayama, at a Pride Week pep rally.

The 12th annual Kuhio Community Healthy Living Celebration took place yesterday at Kuhio Park Terrace in Kalihi. Mavis Kamanu, kumu hula and dancer with the Grace Redemption Hula Halau, danced as part of the event's entertainment.
