BOISE, Idaho >> Honolulu's Michelle Wie held her own yesterday in a foursome that included LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, two-time major champion John Daly and PGA Tour member Hank Kuehne.

The team of Lopez and Kuehne won the nine-hole skins event at Hillcrest Country Club, but only Kuehne had a better score than the 13-year-old from Honolulu in the Kraft-Nabisco Shoot-out, a $25,000 skins game benefiting the golf programs at Boise State and the University of Idaho.

Wie had three straight birdies near the end of the round and finished at 1-under 34, one stroke behind Kuehne. Lopez and Daly both had 36s.

On Thursday, at the same course, Wie will become the first female junior amateur to compete in a PGA Tour-sanctioned tournament by teeing it up in the Albertsons Boise Open on the Nationwide Tour.

"This gives me a lot of confidence, playing with them," Wie said.

Kuehne had three birdies and an eagle over his last four holes. It was the first time he played with Wie.

"She's fantastic," said Kuehne, who has three top-five finishes on the PGA Tour this season.

Kuehne and Lopez earned $16,000 for Idaho. Wie and Daly won $9,000 for Boise State.

Daly won the second hole with a birdie and Wie took the third with the only par in the group. On No. 6, a 290-yard par-4, Wie nearly drove the green and watched her chip for eagle stop a couple of inches short of the hole. Kuehne matched the birdie with a 45-foot putt.

Wie hit her drive 290 yards on the par-5 7th and knocked it on the back of the green with a 3-iron. The ball hopped out of the hole on her 35-foot eagle try.
