Jake’s live
at Japan festival

Jake Shimabukuro's summer concert adventure in Japan will be highlighted in a special half-hour show, "Jake Live in Japan," airing on KHON-2 from 9:30 to 10 p.m. tomorrow.

Ron Mizutani hosts the program, featuring segments from the 2003 Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Niigata, Japan's equivalent of Woodstock. Shimabukuro was one of the headliners for the festival, which drew some 100,000 concert-goers.

"What viewers in Hawaii probably don't know, is that (Jake's) popularity is matched in Japan," said Mizutani.

Shimabukuro recently returned from his monthlong Japan tour to promote his new album "Crosscurrent," locally.

He will return to Japan at the end of the month to perform at the Japan Association of Travel Agents World Tourism Con-gress & Travel Fair with his brother Bruce, who will also attend to give ukulele lessons to the attendees.

"Jake Live in Japan" will also be rebroadcast at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on KHON-2.
