Jake Shimabukuro will perform during his "Crosscurrent" CD release party taking place 7 to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Willows restaurant.

Admission is $10 and will include all-you-can-eat pupus. Call 952-9200 for reservations.

Young singers wanted

Auditions for the Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus will take place Saturday at Kawaiaha'o Church for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 12 interested in singing in a community choral/music education program.

Call times are as follows:

Grades K and 1: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Grades 2 and 3: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Grades 4 through 12: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Boys with changed voices: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Arrive 20 minutes prior to the call time to fill out a registration form.

Interested students will participate in a full rehearsal and will also be auditioned individually to determine range and vocal quality. The process is not intended to weed out singers. (There are no auditions for grades K and 1, only an enrollment period.)

The Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus (formerly the Honolulu Children's Opera Chorus) is the longest-running and largest youth chorus in the state. Since 1961 the chorus has provided singers for all Hawaii Opera Theatre productions requiring children's participation.

Chorus rehearsals take place Saturday mornings in Kawaiaha'o's Performing Arts Center. Call 521-2982.

Dance master class

New York choreographer and teacher Skip Costa offers a master class from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Academy of the Pacific, 913 Alewa Drive. A solo competition will follow the event by appointment only from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

Costa, on the faculty of both the Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway, calls his classes "CORE Fusion," reflecting a contemporary mix of jazz, modern and lyrical dance blended with his own style.

The first half of the class will focus on repertory from his off-Broadway show "Rock Stars NYC." The second will focus on his style of contemporary jazz and lyrical dance.

Ages 6 and up are welcome. The cost is $40. Pre-registration is recommended by calling 212-802-7957 in New York.
