Exploration of New Testament is offered

An exploration of the last book of the New Testament as prophecy and as a practical guide for today is offered in "Unlocking the Mystery of Revelation," one of 11 courses offered this fall by the Bible Institute of Hawaii.

Lecturers present the Bible-based courses at several churches on the island.

The institute was organized 31 years ago with the goal of educating ordinary congregation members.

There is a $7 fee for class workbooks.

The fall semester will offer the following:

Sundays
-- "One Day at a Time" for people experiencing divorce, widowhood or separation. 4:30 p.m. tomorrow through Oct. 26, University Avenue Baptist Church, 2305 University Ave.

Mondays
-- "Gospel of Matthew: Breaking the Stereotype." 7 p.m. Monday through Nov. 10, Living Streams Christian Fellowship, 1419 10th Ave.
-- "In His Image, Foundations for Biblical Leadership," a course limited to students in the Certificate of Biblical Leadership program. 7 p.m. Monday through Nov. 3, Kalihi Union Church, 2214 N. King St. $100 fee.

Rally to prepare for student 'Pole' event scheduled

A rally to prepare student groups for the annual "See You at the Pole" prayer event will be held next Saturday at Leeward Community Church.

The Christian musical group Seven Simple Pieces will perform at the 7 p.m. event at 1860 Komo Mai Drive.

The annual "See You at the Pole" prayer service will be staged before classes on Sept. 17 at the flagpole of many public and private schools. The religious service is permitted on public campuses because it is led by students.
