Honolulu Theatre for Youth Artistic Director Mark Lutwak and actor Georgine Stark go over dance steps for Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham."

Seuss operas
will delight kids

Everyone's favorite Dr. Seuss story returns to the stage as Honolulu Theatre for Youth opens its 49th season with a whimsical revival of its 1997 smash hit staging of "Green Eggs and Ham," along with "Gertrude McFuzz." But this time, the two minioperas will be presented in collaboration with the Hawaii Opera Theatre and the Honolulu Symphony. With music by Robert Kapilow, it's an irresistible mix of children's musical theater with snippets of familiar tunes.

The interactive foray into music, theater and opera is led by HTY company actor BullDog. Fellow HTY actor Jonathan Sypert is part of the small cast, along with HOT singer-actors Georgine Stark, Louise South and Julius Ahn.

The musical is recommended for ages 5 and up.

Performances will be held at the Hawaii Theatre at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. tomorrow and 1:30 p.m. Sunday (the same schedule repeats over the next two weekends).

Tickets are $12 and $24 for adults, and $6 and $12 for youths 18 and under, and seniors over 60. Call the theater's box office at 528-0506 for tickets.
