BEAUTY AND THE BEACH
"Beauty" cohosts Judah Oschner and Alicia Michioka.

Beauties take it
to the beach

Search for the most gorgeous male and the loveliest lass on the beach and you've got the makings of the latest reality TV, and it's all local.

"Beauties on the Beach" makes its debut at 9 p.m. tonight on KFVE.

Former KHNL news director turned independent producer Seth Feldman is the producer for the series hosted by Miss Hawaii USA 2003 Alicia Michioka and radio personality Judah Oschner of 93.1 KQMQ.

Feldman hand-picked 20 people during a casting call for the series. They represent a cross-section of the beach population, including surfers, beach volleyball players, lifeguards, dancers and beach bums ranging in age from 18 to 42.

With each episode, the group will be at various locations to participate in a variety of "wet and sweat" activities for a elimination process that will lead to a winner who will receive a one-year management contract from 2 Couture, the organization that runs the Miss Hawaii USA pageant. The winning female, if eligible, will also be entered in next year's pageant.

Viewers will be able to vote via the Internet beginning with the second episode.

The program will run at 9 p.m. Wednesdays in August; repeating at 10 p.m. Sundays.

The idea has been pitched to Fox Network and if successful, Hawaii's best-looking people may be competing against people across the country.
