Warriors start football practice Wednesday

The following fall camp practices, all at the UH grass practice field, are open to the public: Wednesday through Friday, 4-6 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30-11:30 a.m.; Aug. 11-16 and Aug. 18-23, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Also, the 3:30-5 p.m. practices on Aug. 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, and 22 are also open.

The Warriors go on their regular, one-a-day, 7-9 a.m. practice schedule beginning Aug. 25.

Their first game is Aug. 30 against Appalachian State, 6:05 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

Wong, Metzger lose Grand Slam final

Punahou graduates Stein Metzger and Kevin Wong came up short in the finals of the Grand Slam of beach volleyball, losing to Brazilian duo Insfran Benjamin and Marcio Araujo 22-20, 21-17 at Klagenfurt, Austria, yesterday.

Playing in front of 10,000 people, Wong and Metzger failed to gain a measure of revenge from the Brazilian team who also defeated them in last season's World Tour final in Fortaleza, Brazil.
