Apostolic Church marks its 80th year

The congregation of Apostolic Faith Church will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its founding tomorrow at a 10 a.m. service at the church at 1043 Middle St.

The Kalihi church has become a landmark because of its "Jesus Coming Soon" sign overlooking the freeway. The denomination also has seven branch churches in Hawaii and the Philippines.

A feature of tomorrow's celebration will be the ordination of a new pastor. Chief Pastor William Han Sr., who has preached at the church for 50 years, will ordain his son, William M. Han Jr., as pastor of the church headquarters. The son has been an associate pastor for 23 years and is music department chairman.
