The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Mac nut company
hits 52-week high


ML Macadamia Orchards LP, slated to report second-quarter earnings later this month, rose 4.4 percent to a 52-week high of $3.60 to outpace 11 other stocks this week in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index.

The Big Island company, which offers a 5.6 percent dividend yield, now has a total return for 2003 of 12.4 percent.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. posted the next best gain as it rose 0.9 percent to $27.81 after hitting a 52-week high of $28.68 on Wednesday. Last week, A&B said second-quarter earnings rose nearly 76 percent.
