A brush fire ignited just before midday yesterday off Kealahou Street near the Hawaii Kai Golf Course in Kalama Valley. It took firefighters about two hours to contain the fire but an illegal dump site continued to burn late into the night. No homes were threatened and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire was unknown. A firefighter watched flames near the road.

More than 200 jellyfish sightings were reported to lifeguards in Waikiki yesterday, with the incidents tapering off in the afternoon. Curtis Cuba, one of the lifeguards in Waikiki, showed Lauryn Humphrey and her mom, Dana Humphrey, two jellyfish that were collected yesterday morning. The Humphreys live in Japan, but are originally from Wisconsin.
