Tabuse hits double-digits in NBA summer league

Former Brigham Young-Hawaii basketball player Yuta Tabuse scored 10 points in the Dallas Mavericks' 77-65 loss to the Utah Jazz in the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue yesterday at Salt Lake Community College.

Tabuse, a member of the Mavericks' summer league team, made two of seven field-goal attempts and was 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in 20 minutes of play.

Tabuse, a 5-foot-8 guard from Japan, had scored two points in Dallas' previous two games in the NBA summer league. He is hoping to become the first Japanese player to play in the NBA.

In the final game of the day, former Hawaii forward Troy Ostler registered two points and three rebounds in New York's 96-70 loss to Denver. Former UH guard Predrag Savovic had two steals for Denver.
