>> Registered nurse Barb Pierce has joined The Queen's Medical Center in the newly created position of obstetrics, emergency department and trauma services administration and as respiratory services division manager. She will oversee labor and delivery, post-partum, the nursery, IV therapy, the emergency room and trauma services, as well as respiratory services. Prior to joining Queen's, she was director of emergency services at Huntsville Hospital in Hunts-ville, Ala.
>> Aston Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has named Robin Fujimura as information technology services department senior analyst. He is responsible for protecting the company's network and maintaining communication lines and equipment between the corporate offices and all properties. Prior to being hired by Aston, he served as infrastructure manager and system analyst for the state Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs.
>> Punahou School band director Gary Graser has been elected into the American School Band Directors Association. Members have at least seven years of experience at elementary, middle and high schools.
Former Baldwin High School band director Saburo Watanabe and Nanakuli, Aiea and Kalakaua Intermediate's Lloyd Nakahara are members of the association.
>> Hawaii Pacific University has bestowed 2003 Golden Apple Awards on the following faculty: Associate professor of economics Ken Schoolland for distinguished teaching; associate professor of history Dr. Russell Hart for excellence in scholarship; associate professor of law Melvin Masuda for excellence in mentoring; assistant professor of finance Dr. Mark Lane for reflective use of technology; and assistant professor of nursing Jeanine Tweedie for excellence in service learning.
