>> Attorney Tanisha Souza has joined Tardus Financial Services of Honolulu as chief executive officer and in-house counsel. She previously worked as an attorney with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP. Tardus offers financial education to homeowners.

>> The Queen's Medical Center has appointed neuropsychologist Dr. Gayle Hostetter to assist in the expansion of the hospital's neuropsychology program. The service will evaluate cognitive and behavioral functioning of patients with known or suspected brain dysfunctions such as seizure disorders, dementias, mild cognitive impairment, stroke, multiple sclerosis and closed head injuries. Hostetter was most recently a staff psychologist with Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

>> CP Advertising, a division of Communications Pacific, has added Mike Kuwahara as art director and Steven Kwok as production manager. Kuwahara most recently served five years as a Hawaii Pacific Health and Straub Clinic & Hospital art director. Kwok will coordinate the creative and planning aspects of an account, as well as vendor and account service. He was previously at Kaiser Permanente as a management assistant.

>> Marc Resorts Hawaii has promoted Randy B. Ahlo to regional manager for Oahu. He will oversee the Diamond Head Beach Hotel, Island Colony, Waikiki Royal Suites, Marc Suites Waikiki and the Hawaii Polo Inn and Towers. He will continue his responsibilities as general manager of Marc's Island Colony. He has more than 20 years of hotel experience.

>> Kelli Abe Trifonovitch has been promoted to editor of Hawaii Business magazine, making her the top ranking executive on the news side of the publication. She has been with Hawaii Business since 1999, most recently as television and new media editor.

>> The Hawaii Association of Public Accountants has elected Isaac W. Choy president for 2003-04. Other officers are Denis Yoshida, vice president for Oahu; Colleen Takamura, vice president for Maui; Iris Park, vice president for Hawaii; Timothy Albao, vice president for Kauai; Gregg Taketa, treasurer; and Sharon Ibara, secretary.

>> Edward Sultan, Mark Felmet and Jeff Jervik have joined the Easter Seals Hawaii board of directors. Sultan is president and chief operating officer of Edward D. Sultan Company Ltd. Felmet is executive vice president at First Hawaiian Bank. Jervik is the owner of Papa John's Hawaii.

>> Lottie Chun has been named president of the Kamehameha Lions Club for 2003-04. Other new officers are Vice President Daryl Matsuo, Treasurer Ben Tanaka and Secretary Vaughn Victorino.

Recognition

>> Raymond M. Jefferson will receive the Harrison H. Schmitt Leadership award from Secretary of State Colin Powell on July 29 in Washington, D.C. He is deputy director of the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. Jefferson has been selected as one of two alumni of the Fulbright Student Program to receive this Leadership Award this year. Named for Fulbright student alumnus Harrison H. Schmitt, an Apollo 17 astronaut and former U.S. senator, the award honors extraordinary leadership in, and dedication to, public service, learning and mutual understanding.

>> Former U.S. Ambassador to Australia and Nauru and Lane Publishing Co. Chairman and Publisher L. W. "Bill" Lane Jr. and his wife Jean will be honored on Sept. 23 at the University of Hawaii School of Travel Industry Management annual fundraising event. "Celebrate a Legacy in Tourism" will take place at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The Lane's gifts to the school have established the Sunset Reference Center, the L. W. "Bill" and Jean Lane Endowed Lectureship in Sustainable Tourism and the Environment, and the Bill and Jean Lane visitor center at the National Tropical Botanical Garden on Kauai. >> Bob Dove has earned the Worker's Compensation Certified Professional designation from the American Society of Workers' Compensation Professionals. Dove is president and chief executive officer of the Hawaii Employers' Mutual Insurance Company Inc. The award is based on course work and testing.
