A brush fire on a bluff near Pounders Beach in Laie burned to within 100 feet of homes on Kamehameha Highway yesterday afternoon. The fire burned less than a quarter-acre of dried brush and trees. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, said Capt. Ron Johnson of the Hauula station. He said the homes were not in any danger. At left, an HFD Engine 15 firefighter put out hot spots.
