Panel seeks applicants
for city clerk post

The Honolulu City Council has appointed a search committee to screen candidates for city clerk after the retirement of Genny Wong last week.

The committee includes council members Barbara Marshall and Ann Kobayashi, former city clerk Ray Pua and retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Frances Mossman, a planning and policy consultant who worked for the city and the Council from 1986 to 1998. Marshall is chairwoman of the committee.

Marshall said the council is looking for candidates who have five years of managerial experience, are comfortable in dealing with the media and the public, and have experience in elections.

The Council hopes to approve the new clerk by its Aug. 6 meeting.

Resumes and references should be sent to Marshall at Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King St., Honolulu, 96813, by fax at 550-6701 or e-mail at bmarshall@co.honolulu.hi.us. The deadline to submit applications is July 16.
