>> Mike Fetters will be out until at least mid-August after a slight tear was found in his right elbow yesterday. Fetters is currently on the 60-day disabled list and will not be able to throw for a month but will not have surgery.
>> Brandon League was promoted to Duedin, Fla. in the Florida State League by the Toronto Blue Jays.
>> Tyler Yates was promoted to Binghamton (N.Y.) in the Eastern League by the New York Mets. Yates has been mentioned as the Mets' closer of the future -- which could come sooner rather than later if Armando Benitez is traded -- but has been lights-out as a starter. He allowed only a single hit in five innings in his first start for the club and will make his second start today. He contributed to a combined no-hitter in his final start in Single-A.
>> Despite playing his last game for the club May 21, Shane Victorino still shares the team's lead in stolen bases (7) with shortstop Ramon Vasquez.
>> Rex Rundgren earned three hits and reached base four times in the Florida State League All-Star game this week.
>> Utility player Duke Sardinha will be starting at third base for Tri-Cities this week after starter Christian Colonel injured his shoulder. Sardinha has appeared in games at first, third and second and is the team's emergency catcher.
"If I'm hitting, I'm going to play more," Sardina tol the Tri-City Herald. "But I know my role. I'm the utility guy. I knew that coming into the season. With Colonel down, I'm filling in at third. That's my job."
>> Pat Scalabrini has been sidelined with an injured abdominal muscle, forcing manager Hal Lanier to use a centerfielder at second base since Scalabrini's two backups are also injured. Scalabrini expects to return tomorrow.
>> Jason Kahi Kaanoi has two saves for the Burlington Bees since being moved to the bullpen recently. He believes it might be the role for him after a rough start to his professional career.
"Mentally it's different because you come in in a different situation in the game," Kaanoi told thehawkeye.com. "When you're starting you're basically creating your own whatever happens. When you come in in relief, you're trying to save it. I like it because I get to come in one or two innings, go all out. It's a lot easier I think than it is to start."
