Taste of Honolulu opened yesterday on the grounds of the Honolulu Civic Center. Cheryl Okado, left, fed Paul Chen samplings from one of the 25 restaurant booths. The event continues today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $3, with scrips sold for food purchases.

"Engineer" Evan Amano drove the Honolulu Zoo's new train yesterday on the attraction's opening day at the zoo. A ride on the train costs $1 per passenger but was free on opening day. It includes an educational audio presentation.
