garners 22 awards

Six first-place honors were earned
during Saturday ceremonies


The Honolulu Star-Bulletin captured six first-place awards and 22 awards overall in the 2002 Excellence in Journalism Awards presented by the Hawaii Society of Professional Journalists.

The awards were handed out Saturday at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel.

The Honolulu Advertiser won eight first-place awards and 20 overall.

The Hawaii Tribune Herald in Hilo won the top print award for public service.

The Inland Northwest Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists judged the contest.
