Fresh faces

Children have been a favorite
subject fora man who's traveled
through Asia

Traveling is a favorite pastime for Hawaii Nikkor Camera Club president Daniel Kinoshita, and in the past decade or so, he's trekked all over China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Nepal. In fact, Kinoshita's visited remote villages tourists rarely venture into.

"We take a cab and go into real isolated places, avoid the touristy spots. We want to see what the country is really like, how people really live," he says.

An added benefit of his travels is the wonderful candids Kinoshita shoots of village children.

"I like taking pictures of kids because on one hand, they can be really shy; on the other hand, they're very boisterous. It's fun because I find that children are a lot more open with their feelings and expressions (than adults).

"Some of these kids have never seen a stranger before, so they're either afraid or totally love it."
