Harvest Crusade heads to Hawaii for its sixth time

California Christian evangelist Greg Laurie will bring his Harvest Crusade to Hawaii in mid-July to kick off his Pacific 2003 circuit, which includes appearances in New Zealand and Australia.

Harvest Crusades will be held at 7:30 p.m. July 19 at the Waikiki Shell and 7:30 p.m. July 20 at the Lahaina Civic Center amphitheater on Maui.

Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., organized the evangelizing crusade in 1990 and has brought it to Hawaii five times. He is known for a preaching style of using anecdotes from show business and sports to apply lessons from Scriptures.

The events also will feature Christian musical groups Switchfoot and Crystal Lewis, with local band Seven Simple Pieces appearing at the Honolulu show and Olivia at the Maui crusade.

The Harvest Crusades are being hosted by 31 local churches. Local committees are led by the Rev. Rick Lazor, of Nuuanu Baptist Church; the Rev. Mike Stangle, of North Shore Christian Fellowship; the Rev. Steve Santos, of Calvary Chapel Westside; and the Rev. Craig Webb, of Lahaina Baptist church.
