Father-son tandems highlight polo match

Hawaii, led by the father-son duo of Michael and Devon Dailey, will face Mexico, featuring father Ruben Gracida and son Weston Gracida, in a high-goal international polo match Sunday at the Mokuleia Polo Grounds.

The Father's Day match starts at 2 p.m. Gates at the Hawaii Polo Club open at 11 a.m. for tailgating.

The Daileys and the Gracidas are ranked among the top international players in the world.

SkyDive Hawaii will be the halftime entertainment with postmatch salsa music performed by Son Caribe!. There will also be an exotic car show.

Admission is $5. There is no charge for children under 12. For more information, call 637-8088

Wrestling tournament at Waianae High gym

Hawaii USA Wrestling is sponsoring a two-day tournament this weekend at the Waianae High School gym.

The Greco-Roman portion will be held tomorrow with the freestyle competition on Sunday. Weigh-ins are scheduled for 8 a.m. both days with competition starting at 10 a.m.

The entry fee is $5. Participants must present a valid USA Wrestling card; for non-members, cards will be sold for $30 at the gym.

Sign-ups start Monday for Kona Triathlon

Online registration for next year's Keauhou Kona Triathlon, the only Ironman qualifier in Hawaii, opens Monday.

The race, scheduled for May 30, 2004, is limited to 850 participants. The event awards 25 Ironman slots for age-group competitors plus 30 slots for Big Island residents of at least three years.

The race is half the Ironman distances: a 1.2-mile swim in Kailua Bay, 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run.

Three Vulcans earn top tennis honors

Nathalia Jung was named NCAA Division II West Regional Senior of the Year while two of her Hawaii-Hilo teammates earned All-American honors yesterday from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Vulcans doubles team of Michiko Tanaka and Mai Fujii were ranked 10th in the final poll.
