Wahine fall to seventh
in sailing championship

The Rainbow Wahine sailing team's chances of a top-three finish in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association championship grow slimmer with each day of competition. Hawaii dropped to seventh yesterday after completing day two of the regatta.

Through 26 races (14 A division, 12 B division), Hawaii has totaled 182 points.

Hawaii's A division team of Jennifer Warnock and Sarah Reed are in fourth while the B division pair of Renee DeCurtis and Sarah Hitchcock are in sixth.

In spite of choppy conditions on Lake St. Clair (Detroit, Mich.), Tufts University (108) turned in another dominating performance to distance itself from the rest of the pack. The Jumbos lead the regatta by 21 points over second-place St. Mary's College (Md.) who has 129 points. Old Dominion University, last year's women's champion, is third with 152 points. The regatta continues today with the final 10 races.

Kyle Yamauchi, 20, lifted 220 pounds in the snatch and 275 pounds in the clean & jerk for a total of 495 pounds to place 19th in his weight division.

The Yamauchi's were competing in the 20-and-under division.
