SALVATION ARMY
Mahealani Richardson will be modeling a halter-style black evening gown at The Salvation Army's 16th Celebrity Fashion Show May 10. The cost of her outfit is $19.

The Salvation Army is gearing up to present its fashion showcase focusing on stylish "pre-owned" apparel.

The 16th annual celebrity fashion show, themed "Treasures," takes place May 10 at the Sheraton-Waikiki Hotel, and a number of local celebrities and TV personalities will be modeling their finds, straight off the thrift-store racks.

KHON news anchor and reporter Leslie Wilcox will be the master of ceremonies. Some of the local celebrities who will model business, casual, aloha and formal evening attire include TV news personalities Pamela Young, Jill Kuramoto, Kathy Muneno, Jodi Leong, Stacy Loe, Barbara Wallace, Louise Kim McCoy, Mahealani Richardson and Denby Fawcett. Other models include Vivian Aiona, wife of Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona; Mrs. Hawaii 2003 Helen Berger, and Narcissus Queen 2003 Kathleen Wong.

The noon event includes the show, 11:30 a.m. lunch and a fashion boutique running from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and re-opening from 1 to 2:30 p.m. During this eagerly anticipated segment of the event, guests can purchase thrift fashions, including the apparel modeled by the celebrities, at bargain prices.

Guests will be able to choose from more than 5,000 garments, shoes, jewelry and accessories.

Tickets are $45 per person; $20 tax-deductible. To reserve, call Natalie at 988-2136.

Proceeds from the event sponsored by The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary of Honolulu will benefit the organization's charitable programs.
