Turtle Bay
hosts beauties

SKIN IS IN this week at the Turtle Bay Resort. A bevy of beauties from across the country converge on the North Shore hotel tomorrow through Saturday for the Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Pageant.

Now in its 20th year, the annual competition takes place at various locations on the grounds of Turtle Bay. Stop by the resort tomorrow or Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. for a glimpse of the contestants as they participate in photo shoots. A luau is also scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and the pageant itself is set for Friday night at 7 p.m.

Want a chance to hang out with the ladies after each day's festivities are pau? Get down to Turtle Bay's Bay Club tomorrow through Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. for the pageant's official post-parties. $10 gets you inside; call 447-6940 for a complete schedule of events ...

SPEAKING OF BEAUTIES: Big Island resident Lokelani McMichael is making waves without even being near the water. The Kaunakakai native is the youngest female ever to have competed in Hawaii's Ironman competition, and she's parlayed that into corporate sponsorships from Nike and 24-Hour Fitness. McMichael was also a guest host on E! Entertainment's "Wild On: The Big Island."

Back in January, the 25-year-old was featured on the cover of a music magazine called Complex, and she was Self Magazine's cover model for their annual "Self Challenge." And if you have a copy of last month's Maxim laying around at home, take a look at the back cover -- yep, that's her too! She's got a guest appearance on "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" scheduled for May 8 ...

ANOTHER LOCAL RESIDENT holding it down on that big rock across the Pacific is 6-year-old Evan Nagao. The Punahou School first-grader is in Burbank, Calif., competing for the title of "America's Most Talented Kid." Although Nagao lost during his first appearance on the show, he returned on Friday night and won a wild-card spot in this week's finals with his amazing yo-yo tricks. (If you've seen the Hawaii Dental Service commercial with a kid going nuts with yo-yos, that's Evan.)

The finals of "America's Most Talented Kid" are scheduled to air Friday night at 7 p.m. on KHNL/NBC. Good luck to him ...
