DeRenne gave up two hits, but one was a two-run homer. He walked one and was 1-for-3 at the plate as the third baseman before moving to the mound.
>> That same night, Kaulana Kuhaulua (Waianae, Long Beach St.), an infielder who also has played some left field., pitched a perfect ninth inning in Quad City's 10-6 loss to Burlington in the Midwest League.

>> Right-hander Jeff Coleman (Hawaii) came off the disabled list this week and struck out two in one inning of shutout relief in his first appearance of the year.
>> Center fielder Bronson Sardinha (Kamehameha), age 19, was named the best teenage prospect in the New York Yankees organization in a recent issue of Baseball America.
