An open house held at the UH Institute for Astronomy yesterday gave Eliana Crestani, left, and Bill Pelzer an opportunity to peer at the sun in the Institute's courtyard. In Crestani's telescope, one could view sunspots, and in Pelzer's, solar prominences. Visitors also could observe Venus through a telescope, make a miniature comet, launch a bottle rocket and visit the Starlab Portable Planetarium.
