Tickets go on sale today for the return engagement of "Destiny," the Iona Contemporary Dance Theatre's well-received production that debuted in May 2002. It will return to the Hawaii Theatre on May 30 and 31. Features editor Nadine Kam, in a review of "Destiny," called it "visually stunning, visceral and (a) provocative opera of movement." Tickets for the 8 p.m. performances are $25 to $45 (with a $2 theater restoration charge), and a $5 discount per ticket for students, seniors and military. They're available at the Hawaii Theatre box office, or by phone at 528-0506.

Dad's Day at Capitol

Local dads will be honored with "Dad's Day" 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at the State Capitol.

It's being put on by The Hawaii Coalition for Dads, a collaboration of public and private agencies and individuals committed to recognizing the importance of the family man, encouraging him to be involved, nurturing and responsible with his mate and kids. Parents and Children Together received a grant from the Hawaii Children's Trust Fund, a component fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation, to support the coalition's activities.

Activities in the capitol's rotunda will include entertainment, networking, information booths and complimentary ice cream, while supplies last.

For more information, call Jesse Lipman at 841-2245.

A preview of movies opening this weekend:

COLUMBIA PICTURES
Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson star as patient and therapist, though at times it's hard to tell which one is which, in "Anger Management."

"Anger Management" >> After his restrained performance in "About Schmidt," Jack Nicholson busts out with an antic characterization of a seemingly mad psychiatrist who uses very unconventional methods to treat a mild-mannered Adam Sandler, who has been sent into court-mandated therapy with Nicholson after being accused of starting a fight on an airplane. Obviously Nicholson's character has his own anger control issues. (PG-13)

"Ghosts of the Abyss" >> "Titanic" director James Cameron returns to the tragic story of the unlucky oceanliner with an IMAX documentary about the search for the big sunken ship. Using state-of-the-art technology and advanced 3D photography, Cameron, actor and friend Bill Paxton and a team of experts explore virtually of the wreckage, inside and out, as never before. (G)
