Garden Sports Bar
flashes a mix of style

DOWNTOWN is the place to be tonight when "Versatyle Styles" gets underway at The Garden Sports Bar on Nuuanu Avenue (formerly known as The Garden of Saigon). Now in its second week, "Versatyle Styles" features an ear-pleasing mix of dancehall, drum and bass, hip-hop and whatever else this week's guest DJs decide to hit the crowd with.

Rocking the wheels of steel from the 808 state at The Garden are DJs Lava, Monkey and Sovern-T, some of the same folks that brought you those popular Treehaus parties a while back. DJ Shawn G. and MC Dutchboy will also be on hand to represent the NYC out here in paradise. 18-and-over are welcome to this one; $7 gets you in if you're under 21, otherwise cover is $5. Call 537-6971 ...

IT'S GOING to get pretty freaky tomorrow night at the latest incarnation of the club at 1739 Kalakaua Avenue. Now called the Galaxy Nightclub, the spot plays host to "Dungeon" starting at 10 p.m.

For those of you who haven't checked out "Dungeon" before, it's definitely an eye-opening experience. Open-minded individuals will get a kick out of the rope cage, iron cross, flogging stocks and other goodies, but don't go if pain makes you squeamish -- like I said, it's going to get pretty freaky. And speaking of freaks, the "International King of Porn" Ron Jeremy will be in Waikiki tomorrow night to host the party. $15 gets you into "Dungeon" and gives you a chance to meet "The Hedgehog" ...

WHIPS AND CHAINS a bit too much for you on a Friday night? Why not head over to Brew Moon instead for an evening of live entertainment with Brickwood Galuteria, Imai and friends. Galuteria had been playing the first Friday of each month at Brew Moon, but owner Marcus Bender recently decided expand his performances to every Friday through the month of May.

"Brew Moon's Aloha Fridays" takes place from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the restaurant, and you never know who will show up to join Uncle Brick on stage. Previous guest artists who stopped by include Jan Brenner, Don Ho, Kimo Kahoano and Melveen Leed. Call 593-0088 for more info ...

AND HERE'S TO the Stone Groove Family's DJ Sub Zero -- he celebrates a birthday today and is probably still trying to recover from last night's festivities during the "Split 101" party at Compadres. Happy Birthday man ...
