ALOHA, AUNTY!: Bobby Moderow Jr., left, greeted Genoa Keawe and Gary Aiko at the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA) Lifetime Achievement Awards in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Ballroom on Saturday. Keawe received an earlier version of the award in 1980.

CONGRATULATIONS, UNCLE RAY!: HARA honoree Raymond Kane proudly displayed his award with daughter Moana Kane Arakaki, left, and wife Elodia. Kane was honored for his decades as a master of Hawaiian slack-key. Long-time student Moderow was "deeply honored" to present the award and then perform in Kane's honor.

STEEL MEN: Steel guitar legend Jerry Byrd, second from left, was congratulated by disciples Greg Sardinha, Casey Olsen, and Alan Akaka. Byrd spoke eloquently in his acceptance speech of the importance of perpetuating the Hawaiian steel guitar tradition. A performance by award recipient Buddy Fo, his wife Sammi, and bassist Jason Takamori, and a show-closing jam session, were other highlights in the show. Linda Dela Cruz and Lydia Ludin were the other awardees.
