Honolulu police and security personnel demonstrated various security measures for schoolchildren yesterday at Security Awareness Day at Hickam Air Force Base. HPD Specialized Services Division member Thomas Carreiro showed Hickam Elementary student Jesse Kimberlin how to flex his muscles. Below, police officer Chris Rabago showed off Kuhio, a police horse, to Hickam students Thomas Snyder, left, Kristina Karganilla and Chelsea Alacita.

It happens every spring: The days grow longer, and the first pitches of baseball season bring dreams of summer glory. Baseball fans cast long shadows in the sunset yesterday as they watched Mid-Pacific's and Kamehameha White's intermediate teams play ball at Moiliili Field.
