Casting for 'E.R.'

The Anna Fishburn Casting agency will hold an open casting call tomorrow for 200 to 350 African-American extras to appear in two "E.R." episodes filming on Oahu next month.

The 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. casting call for adults and children of all ages is for black actors only. In the NBC episodes, Oahu is substituting for the Congo.

The casting office is at 1121 Nuuanu Ave., Suite 200, above Indigo restaurant. Resumes and photos are welcomed, but not necessary.

The filming will run from April 28 to May 9. Extras will be paid $65 to $150 per day depending on hours worked.

Casting officials are not taking telephone calls about the audition.

Hilo crafts downtown

A little bit of Hilo will make its way downtown, as crafters and businesses from the rainy Big Island town descend on Kumu Kahua Theatre to mark the adaptation of Lois-Ann Yamanaka's "Heads by Harry" from novel to stage.

The story is set in Hilo, where Yamanaka grew up, and her friends will be trying to set the right mood for the tale.

The craft fair takes place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 46 Merchant St.

"Heads by Harry" is being staged 8 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays through April 13.

Windward orchid show

The Windward Orchid Society presents "Kaleidescope of Orchids" this weekend at S.W. King Intermediate School, 46-155 Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe.

The showcase of orchids and plant sale hosted by the nonprofit group takes place 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and tomorrow, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Donation of $2 with seniors over age 65 and children under 12 free. Call 239-5415.

Plant sale

Get set for Lyon Arboretum's Spring Plant Sale with offerings from more than 30 nurseries, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5 at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

Expect fun activities for the keiki, plus t-shirt, books and Hui Hana Hawaii handicarfts sales. Also, plant experts will be on hand to give advice . Call 988--0456.

Anthuriums 101

Learn the culture of anthuriums, pests and different cultivars by taking in the Urban Garden Center's class 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pearl City. Cost is $5. Call 453-6050.
