The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian gains


Hawaiian Holdings Inc., despite the bankruptcy filing of subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines, gained 5.6 percent this week to lead 11 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The stock, however, was halted at $1.50 at midday yesterday prior to the airline making its announcement.

CB Bancshares Inc., parent of City Bank, was the next best gainer as it rose 5.4 percent to close at an all-time high of $50.05.

Barnwell Industries Inc. also hit a 52-week high during the week when it rose 2.5 percent to $22.76. The stock did not trade Thursday or yesterday.

ML Macadamia Orchards LP brought up the rear as it fell 3 percent to $3.23.
