"The Art of the Aloha Shirt"
by DeSoto Brown and Linda Arthur
(Island Heritage, $12.99)

Another spectacular book in which it's more useful to show the pictures than talk about it. Collector/historian Brown has added humor and pizazz to scholar Arthur's original work, and together they talk not just about the arcane details, but about the social tableau in which the aloha shirt was introduced and continues to glow. They know that the deal with aloha shirts is that they have to be worn, loudly and proudly. Except maybe for those flowered men's jump suits that bloomed briefly in the '70s. Terrific book at a gimme price.
