‘Split 101’ set for Compadres

LIKE I PROMISED last week, I've got all the details you need on the return of Split Clothing's Wednesday night party, "Split 101." After some time off to rest and regroup, the guys from Split and the Stone Groove Family land at Compadres Bar and Grill in Ward Centre, starting at 10 p.m.

It might be a good idea to show up a bit early at Compadres -- not only will you avoid the line, but you can take advantage of $5 pitchers from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Once DJs G-Dog, Sub-Zero and the rest of the family get busy on wax, get ready for your shot at a surfboard from Jason Kashiwai and other goodies from In4mation. Party people 21 and over are welcome ...

NOBODY REALLY SAID much about World Cafe when it closed down at the end of 2002; the nightspot had been slipping for months and had actually resorted to throwing all-ages parties on Friday nights before finally throwing in the towel. For a place that had been packing people in four nights a week at one point, it was kind of sad to see World's suffering through its slow and painful demise.

Word has it, however, that a group of local private investors have teamed up to resurrect the space that used to house World Cafe. I've heard you can look forward to more live entertainment at the Nimitz Highway club, which is reportedly being called "Volcano" by those involved ...

LOCAL RESIDENTS and tourists alike have raved about the city's Sunset on the Beach program that takes place in Waikiki. Now Mililani residents have a chance to watch a movie under the stars when the "Movie in the Park and Taste of Mililani" kicks off this Saturday at 5 p.m.

Food booths will be open throughout Hikikaulia Street Park during the event featuring local eateries, and arts-and-crafts vendors will have items for sale as well. The ladies of Keahiwai are scheduled to perform as the sun sets over the Leeward side before the movie "Blue Crush" is shown. Call 623-7300 for more info ...

COOL DATE IDEA of the week: Check out an evening of seductive and romantic love songs during "Seduction" at the ARTS at Marks Garage. Julie Capili, Katie Doyle, Naomi Mal and Zenia Zambrano heat things up cabaret style Thursdays through Saturdays at 9 p.m. this week and next; tickets are $18 at the door. Call 521-9699 ...
