Wednesday blast to return

IT'S HARD ENOUGH to keep a party going on a weekly basis, let alone on a Wednesday night. But, for the past two years, the Split 101 Clothing crew and Stone Groove Family have kept things banging at Hard Rock Cafe on Wednesday nights, filling the spot with a nice mix of tourists looking for a night out in paradise and local heads who didn't have to get up early on Thursday morning.

Last week marked the final episode at Hard Rock, but Split 101's Russ Inouye doesn't want you to get worried. After taking a week off to rest and regroup, look for this party to get started again next Wednesday at a new location. Keep watching this space for updates ...

A FEW BLOCKS down Kalakaua at Nick's Fishmarket, a new weekly is under way called "Sex in the City." Starting at 10 p.m. the restaurant offers half-price pupus and $3 Budweisers and Bud Lights. Nick's even jumps on the martini night train that's been going around town, serving up $5 martinis all night long.

Also scheduled during "Sex in the City" at Nick's is a speed-dating game for singles (or those who wish they were single), with prizes like DVD players and dinner certificates to be given away. A neighbor island getaway for two is also up for grabs, and DJ E-Rock keeps things going on the decks all night. Call 566-0644 for more info ...

FOR THE SECOND year in a row, Waikiki bike-skate-coffee shop Big House Coffee held its "Big House Bar-B-Q" at the Koko Head District Park miniramp. Pro stunt bikers Adam Banton, Adam Booth, Mike "Rooftop" Escamilla, Glenn Milligan, Heath Pinter, Leigh Ramsdell and Colin Winkelmann were on hand to ride with those who showed up and sign autographs for fans.

If you missed the barbecue, stop by Big House Coffee at 1407 Kalakaua Ave. sometime this week -- you might be lucky enough to get served a Mad Dog, Biker in Black or the Dynamite by one of the pros. Call 947-0122 for directions to the shop ...

LOCAL FUNNY GUYS Augie T and Andy Bumatai have been doing their thing on Fridays and Saturdays in the Don Ho Showroom at the Waikiki Beachcomber lately, and tomorrow night they start a four-week run at Brew Moon. "Comedy on the Moon" gets started at 9:30 p.m. $10 gets you through the door, and all ages are welcome. Call 593-0088 ...
