Spring at Ihilani

Spring is in the air at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa.

The "Kama'aina Spring Special Package" offered through May 22, includes accommodations in a golf/mountain view room at the Oahu resort, a 15 percent discount on all treatments (excluding salon services) at the Ihilani Spa, and a complimentary dessert with the purchase of a dinner in Azul restaurant, Naupaka Terrace or Ushio-Tei.

The package rate is $159 per night Sundays through Thursdays, and $169 per night Fridays through Saturdays.

Rates exclude tax and gratuity and are subject to availability and restrictions. Proof of Hawaii residency is required, and overnight parking is $10 per car per night.

Uke masters in Kohala

Some of Hawaii's legendary ukulele musicians will be jammin' on three stages at the free 3rd Annual Great Waikoloa Ukulele Festival held at the Waikoloa Beach Resort's Kings' Shops, on the Big Island's Kohala Coast on March 15.

From 2 to 6 p.m., the music of Hawaiian masters such as Ohta-san, John Keawe, Joy, Herb Ohta Jr. & Keoki Kahumoku will fill the air. Danny Kaleikini, "Hawaii's Ambassador of Aloha," also will be there.

Other activities include hula performances, Hawaiian musical instrument displays, demonstrations of ipu making, ukulele making and lessons, lei making and other crafts. And two ukuleles will be given away during the event. Call 1-877-WAIKOLOA for details.

Taste of vanilla at spa
