Affleck breaks UH
swimming barrier



Long distance specialist Andrew Affleck smashed the Hawaii mark in the 500 freestyle at the NIC Championships at Rochester, Mich., yesterday, swimming in 4:23.95 to beat David Daniels' record set in 1981.



Sea Warriors sweep Seasiders in softball

Tascha Berinobis went five-for-seven with three runs scored as Hawaii Pacific (10-2, 5-1 Pacific West) swept previously unbeaten Brigham Young-Hawaii (9-6, 6-2) in softball yesterday, 7-3 and 6-1.

HPU's Maatta survives 3-set scare in Hilo

Nationally ranked Hawaii Pacific tennis player Mikael Maata barely beat Hilo's Richard Korneck 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 yesterday.

HPU won the match and Brigham Young-Hawaii beat Chaminade.

>> Ryan Abrahams, Hawaii-Hilo basketball: Abrahams won his second PacWest Player of the Week award for outscoring BYUH's Alexus Foyle 23-14 in a win against the Seasiders on Saturday. Abrahams is fifth in the conference in scoring with 16.6 points per game and fourth in 3-point shooting.

>> Regina Molifua, Brigham Young-Hawaii softball: The sophomore from Oceanside, Calif., helped the Seasiders sweep Montana State-Billings this week, shutting the Yellowjackets out on three hits from the circle before switching to third base and drilling a home run in the second game of a doubleheader.
